Tips to Drive candidates to your Apply by Text.

Now that you have an Apply by Text number and a QR Code, it's time to start getting the word out to candidates.

Here is a quick list of some of the most common ways to market your Apply by Text QR Code or texting number.

Tip #1 - Add your Apply by Text Call to Action on all Online Job Ads

It shouldn't be a surprise that job boards are probably one of the highest "traffic" sources of candidates you might be seeing. However, when a candidate clicks on your career site, 95% of the visitors leave without completing an application. (AppCast -2021 Recruitment Marketing Report.
That's a lot of wasted money on candidates that you have no contact information on, and no way to reach out to.

So, by adding your Apply by Text call to action like "Now Hiring! Text "jobs" to ###" at the TOP of your job description, on all of your online job postings, you're giving candidates an additional, interesting, and easier way to engage, without requiring a 20 minute ATS webform that we have trained candidate to hate. (Think about the Resume Blackhole... we ask candidates to fill out all this info... and never call them back).

Here's an example of a Craigslist ad. Have you used Craigslist lately?
It's a cheap alternative, and since most of your competition is probably using Indeed, it might be worth trying Craigslist, as an alternative. AND, you can include a QR code, plus your Apply by Text Call to Action.

Tip #2 - Add your Call to Action, and your QR Code to your Career site!

If you double your candidate application rate, from say 5% to 10% that's like doubling your recruitment advertising budget.

But you don't have to spend more money to drive candidates... you probably already have the candidates on your career site. They just want an easier way to engage you.

Here's an example of a retail client who added their Apply by Text to their career site.
It's super-fast to add, and can dramatically increase your candidate conversions.

Tip #3 - Share your Apply by Text number on your organization's Facebook page.

This is one of my favorite examples because it's easy to do, is shared within a community, and gets results.

Each month the Pinal County Sheriff's Office in Arizona, adds a new post to their Facebook page, that includes their Apply by Text call to action.
This doesn't take long to do, but from looking at the number of shares they are getting... it's working.
Sometimes it's just a picture, like the one below, from graduation from their academy.
But, this isn't just a job... look at the smiles on Sheriff's face, and the new Deputies.
This is a community and family. There's no joke that law enforcement is a tough job, but wouldn't this kind of atmosphere encourage your candidates?
(This isn't a competition, by the way, either... it's about being authentic, sharing your culture, and you'll attract the right people.)

Tip #4 - Add your Now Hiring Call to action to your email signature. You

You never know who might be getting your emails, or getting them forwarded to other candidates.
Here's what Tabatha Rolph, HR Manager for BRC Rubber and Plastics' email signature looks like.

Tip #5 - Create Now Hiring Business Cards and hustle!

This is another tip from Tabatha Roth.
Tabatha is a go-getter, and she's getting results.
Like most smaller-town manufacturing, it can be hard to build an employee brand. There aren't that many possible candidates, and the list is endless.
But Tabatha doesn't let that bother her.

Look at this business card she created.

It's got everything you might want!

  1. Clear call to action.

  2. QR Code to make it easy to hold up your phone and start.

  3. 3 different job titles.

  4. Shows the multiple locations.

  5. Shifts and Benefits.

  6. And, even an example of their products, which is probably eye-catching to someone on the shop floor making these parts.

Tip #6 - Post you Now Hiring sign on local Facebook groups.

There are thousands of local Facebook Jobs groups, and they are packed with candidates. Many small local groups have thousands of candidates. Others have 60,000 plus candidates.

    Head over the Facebook.
Search for Groups and "you local area" + "jobs". Chance are you'll find a couple.
You probably have to apply to join, which is fine.
Then, you can take your Now Hiring signe from GoHire, or create a business card and post that, like Tabatha has done.
